Little Boys Love Wild Animal Projects

I love shopping for fabric at Connecting Threads!  They now sell other party's fabric lines and this one was too hard to pass up! Check it out!  It is called Wild North by Gareth Lucas.  I had this project in mind as soon as I saw the panel of animals...a fabric baby book.
Each row had enough for 8 pages but it left two animals out.  So I fussy cut around the two animals found in another row and raw edge appliqued one for the cover and one inside the back page.  It worked well.  I also purchased some yardage of their animal print.  I used it for the cover piece.
Sorry the pictures are sideways...technology and me!  Haha!  Aren't these neat animals?!
My 3 year old is loving looking at them, although I actually made it for the 2 month old.  They will enjoy it together!
I added the little flap as a closure, just need to add some velcro to finish it off.

My three year old also asked for a backpack recently.  I instantly had inspiration involving this animal print and canvas I purchased at Walmart a few weeks ago.  I used a free Spoonflower backpack pattern to pull it off.

It turned out just as I envisioned which is cool!  I added a pocket on a pocket to the front. That is where i showcased the wild north fabric.  I did also use it for the lining.
I didn't have the adjustable slides for the straps so I just tried it on him and sewed them in place.  I can add the slides or just adjust and sew if I need to.

I haven't had much sewing time as we have been adjusting to life with two boys. We are settling into our rhythm now and the little guy is giving me more sleep at night which helps! I have a few more projects in the works! Hurray
