Baby Quilt Revived

My mother in law found my husband's baby quilt while they were sorting through things. It was well used and in much need of some TLC. The wife of a man who worked for his parents made it for him all those years ago.  She had  just tied the quilt and it had even been re-tied in a few places.  Around the edge she had put a simple cotton rope piping.  The piping was hanging off in several places.  The actual fabrics had held up pretty good, with just a few spots that had ripped open from use. I started off by just cutting off the edges with my rotary cutter. I was actually thinking of leaving the batting inside and just hooking the layers together on my quilting machine and giving it a quick quilt...but. The old batting looked more like cobwebs!  I knew I just needed to undo the tied spots, separate the fabrics and give it new batting. That I did!  And then I loaded it all up on Miss Vivian.
