Project 366- April 11, 2008

What a day! No work today...due to blizzard outside. I prepared for work and started my car before finding out I could stay home. After turning the car off I decided to check on the baby goats. I happened to go by the pen where the longhorn cattle are... The one that has a calf was down in the muck and not looking good. I got mom out and we spent from 7am to 9am trying to pull the poor thing up on her legs. No luck. She didn't make it and we were so cold and tired out there. Wow, my legs and back are feeling it now. Due to the cow's death we had to bring the calf inside to defrost and then find SOMEWHERE to keep here dry. Between the calf, keeping the goats fed and protected, and trying not to freeze as the sand like snow pelted my face...I'm glad to have a warm bed tonight. P.S. Once the wind stopped, the kids were LOVING the huge 6 ft drifts around our yard. We actually had to MAKE Quinn come inside:) Alissa

I started my new work schedule this morning. Now it is the Garden Center on Thursdays instead of Mondays. I got a lot done in the a.m. with Ray's guidance. It was rain/sleet/snowing most of the morning. By the time I was getting ready to go back in to work at lunch it got pretty bad. Snow and wind are never a good combination...lots and lots of wind. They are predicting quite a storm. Ironically, we had a blizzard on April 10, 2004 that took out power for like 2 weeks. We're prepared this time if it happens:) The poor horses, you can see that they aren't fairing quite as well. It's tough being an animal;) Alissa

Ah, bliss, a day to catch up a bit. I got so much done today, even a nap:) I did have to go into work for a meeting. It was a meeting that makes a 'S' personality like myself thing, "I can't do anything right!" Yet I completely understand where the boss was coming from and I know I'm not doing everything wrong, just the devil likes to poke:S Quinn got this "headgear" at the rummage sale. It is pretty cool and it still lights up! We went on an adventure outside after it got dark. I don't know what exactly we were looking for but it was good fun. It is so great to be a kid:) Alissa

No rest for the weary this week. I headed back into things today with MOPS and I was sooo unprepared! It turned into a bit of a party day, I guess we just celebrated the last meeting, one meeting too soon:) The kids were a blast! I gave them all half of a swimming fun noodle and we had lots of sword fighting:) I'm sure their mothers want to hurt me, but we loved it! I love this picture of the boys all lookin' a bit tough with their "swords". After MOPS we ate lunch at Emily's before heading to the Hospital Rummage Sale. Let me tell you, I hit the jackpot. I found 3 pairs of jeans and they ALL fit! I also got several cute shirts, I love bargains. Alissa
