Finish It Up Friday...Pears, Cake, and Camp!

It's Friday!
I bought this Connecting Threads kit awhile back when purchasing some backing fabric.
I didn't need it, but it was so cute!
While hanging with my mom as she went through old papers and letters of her moms I got most of it pieced.
Then on Monday as I waited for it to be camp time I worked away at the rest. Trying to keep my mind from making me CRAZY nervous.
 I love the bright colors! I finished the binding today.
The kit came with a red for the binding but I already had several scraps that were 2.5 inches cut out.
I am excited to use the leftovers for something fun.
It comes in at 19 x 27 inches. 
Another finish for the week was successfully completing a camp week at Homeward Trail Bible Camp.  It was amazing!
My sister and I were dorm leaders for the K-3rd grade camp.  Kids are so wonderful, interacting with them took all my anxiety away.  Our group were the self-named Unicorns and they were such sweet, fun, goofy, attentive girls all twelve!  I pray that their hearts were impacted by the good news of the gospel and challenged to know Christ more.  We had some great talks.
I'm totally ready for next year's camp :)

I was asked to make a graduation cake for a friend's son.  She gave me freedom on the design so I went with camo.

UPDATE: Several people have asked about this rug. One specifically asked about how I folded my prairie points. So here are some step by step pictures.  I started with a 4 inch square. Fold that square in half diagonally.  Fold the point up away from the fold at the center towards the other side.  Fold the other side up across in the same way. A friend sent me a picture on facebook of a rug. It was a cute rug she saw at a newborn photography class. I took on the challenge of recreating that rug. I was a bit surprised to not find anything like it online.  I did finally find a variation of prairie points to use when folding and ironing.  I did a lot of folding and ironing.  I took 4 inch squares folded them in half and then folded the sides overlapping to create more of an acute angle to the triangle. Finish It Up Friday...Pink Triangle Shag Rug!

I made this scrappy rug back in 2016 for a childhood friend who does fabulous photography! Check our her work: www.katrinaleephotography.com  or on Facebook . She was able to put it to use for this precious baby photo shoot!  After she posted it another friend of mine saw it and requested a pink, cream and gray rug for her coming granddaughter!  Thanks so much for the shoutout Katrina! It was already a week or so into January and she wanted it by February 1st...so I got crackin'!  You can see how I made the first one HERE .  It is fun to see these last photos in a row and watch it grow.  I'm not a big pink fan, but I did end up having plenty of pinks for this rug.  Not having to go buy fabric sped up the process.  I want one for myself now! Hello, Jellyfish Wedding Quilt

My babiest brother got married in March! So crazy! So happy for them! They were planning to get married this coming August but decided to just have a small courthouse wedding earlier. I thought I had time to get a wedding quilt made but not with the change. I asked for their preferences and got started. Request: he likes green, she likes pink and wanted some jellyfish. Here are the fabrics I went with, plus white and teal rocks. I found another quilt I liked on SuzyQuilts website. It was a bit more of a modern pattern, which I thought fit my sister in law a bit better. Ready, set, go! These pictures are a little out of order, oops!   I tried just figuring the pattern out myself so I wasn't sure how my measurements would come out. It came out really long! I ended up trimming part of the top and bottom as well as adding a vertical border. Simple blocks! I am feeling so much better about the tension of my quilt parts on the rollers. It gave me the confidence to try a new design! Yay!
