Project 366- June 11, 2008



I go to sleep tonight feeling as though I've accomplished something, that God was glorified and filled.

This morning was our Bible study and it proved to once again be a great time of fellowship, discussion and digging into the Scripture. I left a few minutes early to go pick up Brenna who was at horse practice.

We lunched at the infamous Emily's and stopped into Kid's Kloset where mom and I both found a good buy! Mom and Quinn then headed to do some errands and home while Brenna and I went to the Fairgrounds.

Today as a part of the June Jamboree program, Lisa was doing pottery painting. I took Brenna so that I too could get some pottery painted. Our ladies group at church does a prayer partner swap and we made mugs to exchange for that. Some ladies do not have a mug and so I volunteered to make some for them. Today was an opportunity to do just that.

I walked into the building and Lisa instantly said she'd forgotten the mugs. Understandably so since they had a horse-related accident right as they were walking out the door to leave. Praise the Lord no one was hurt seriously although Clara's back is in some pain:(! Amelia's lunch was left in the shuffle as well so I volunteered to run out to their house and collect:)

I got two mugs finished and they turned out better than I expected. I hope the ladies like them. Back at the "ranch" it has been cooking and tidying up for Bunco. I did slip out and plant the carrots, radishes, and some lettuce though. Good day and tomorrow is Bunco! Hurray!

    well, you don't know better! She is turning into quite the little gardener!! And she hoes weeds too, yippee!!!! (And brings strawberries home to plant, yum!)

Finish It Up Friday...Scrappy Triangle Shag Rug

UPDATE: Several people have asked about this rug. One specifically asked about how I folded my prairie points. So here are some step by step pictures.  I started with a 4 inch square. Fold that square in half diagonally.  Fold the point up away from the fold at the center towards the other side.  Fold the other side up across in the same way. A friend sent me a picture on facebook of a rug. It was a cute rug she saw at a newborn photography class. I took on the challenge of recreating that rug. I was a bit surprised to not find anything like it online.  I did finally find a variation of prairie points to use when folding and ironing.  I did a lot of folding and ironing.  I took 4 inch squares folded them in half and then folded the sides overlapping to create more of an acute angle to the triangle. Finish It Up Friday...Pink Triangle Shag Rug!

I made this scrappy rug back in 2016 for a childhood friend who does fabulous photography! Check our her work: www.katrinaleephotography.com  or on Facebook . She was able to put it to use for this precious baby photo shoot!  After she posted it another friend of mine saw it and requested a pink, cream and gray rug for her coming granddaughter!  Thanks so much for the shoutout Katrina! It was already a week or so into January and she wanted it by February 1st...so I got crackin'!  You can see how I made the first one HERE .  It is fun to see these last photos in a row and watch it grow.  I'm not a big pink fan, but I did end up having plenty of pinks for this rug.  Not having to go buy fabric sped up the process.  I want one for myself now! Hello, Jellyfish Wedding Quilt

My babiest brother got married in March! So crazy! So happy for them! They were planning to get married this coming August but decided to just have a small courthouse wedding earlier. I thought I had time to get a wedding quilt made but not with the change. I asked for their preferences and got started. Request: he likes green, she likes pink and wanted some jellyfish. Here are the fabrics I went with, plus white and teal rocks. I found another quilt I liked on SuzyQuilts website. It was a bit more of a modern pattern, which I thought fit my sister in law a bit better. Ready, set, go! These pictures are a little out of order, oops!   I tried just figuring the pattern out myself so I wasn't sure how my measurements would come out. It came out really long! I ended up trimming part of the top and bottom as well as adding a vertical border. Simple blocks! I am feeling so much better about the tension of my quilt parts on the rollers. It gave me the confidence to try a new design! Yay!
