Project 366- June 20, 2008



Eek! A day at work when I am searching for tasks drives me bonkers. It makes me want to say, "Hey I'm going home, I have lots to do there!" I pulled through though and still had a good time with Marci. The back office laptop was being "difficult" and I finally shut it off and gave up. That work can wait for Monday, arg!

I took home mom's carrots at lunch. It is so funny how random people you don't know will comment to you when you are carrying a 25lb of carrots:) They say things like, "WOW, that is a LOT of carrots!" I just smiled and said, "Yup." It would be too long of a story to explain that my mom is juicing them for a diet and it's yummy.

Every cloud was amazing today, and I mean amazing! It was like a fireworks show, only better and longer:) They did lead to the reason I left work a half an hour early. Dr. Hackel heard there were tornado warnings out and sent Marci to go pick up the kids and me to go home. I will have more to unclutter Monday morning for sure, but I didn't stop him from sending me home.

It cleared up later in the evening and Brenna and I took a walk, just us two. It was nice, we don't get to do that much. We strolled down to "lower" Berwyn and checked on our herd and back around by the bed and breakfast. She's a peach, praise the Lord for my sister...even when we don't agree!

P.S. I forgot to mention that last night I made ratatouille! Yes, the recipe like in the movie...it was very yummy!

Finish It Up Friday...Scrappy Triangle Shag Rug

UPDATE: Several people have asked about this rug. One specifically asked about how I folded my prairie points. So here are some step by step pictures.  I started with a 4 inch square. Fold that square in half diagonally.  Fold the point up away from the fold at the center towards the other side.  Fold the other side up across in the same way. A friend sent me a picture on facebook of a rug. It was a cute rug she saw at a newborn photography class. I took on the challenge of recreating that rug. I was a bit surprised to not find anything like it online.  I did finally find a variation of prairie points to use when folding and ironing.  I did a lot of folding and ironing.  I took 4 inch squares folded them in half and then folded the sides overlapping to create more of an acute angle to the triangle. Finish It Up Friday...Pink Triangle Shag Rug!

I made this scrappy rug back in 2016 for a childhood friend who does fabulous photography! Check our her work: www.katrinaleephotography.com  or on Facebook . She was able to put it to use for this precious baby photo shoot!  After she posted it another friend of mine saw it and requested a pink, cream and gray rug for her coming granddaughter!  Thanks so much for the shoutout Katrina! It was already a week or so into January and she wanted it by February 1st...so I got crackin'!  You can see how I made the first one HERE .  It is fun to see these last photos in a row and watch it grow.  I'm not a big pink fan, but I did end up having plenty of pinks for this rug.  Not having to go buy fabric sped up the process.  I want one for myself now! Hello, Jellyfish Wedding Quilt

My babiest brother got married in March! So crazy! So happy for them! They were planning to get married this coming August but decided to just have a small courthouse wedding earlier. I thought I had time to get a wedding quilt made but not with the change. I asked for their preferences and got started. Request: he likes green, she likes pink and wanted some jellyfish. Here are the fabrics I went with, plus white and teal rocks. I found another quilt I liked on SuzyQuilts website. It was a bit more of a modern pattern, which I thought fit my sister in law a bit better. Ready, set, go! These pictures are a little out of order, oops!   I tried just figuring the pattern out myself so I wasn't sure how my measurements would come out. It came out really long! I ended up trimming part of the top and bottom as well as adding a vertical border. Simple blocks! I am feeling so much better about the tension of my quilt parts on the rollers. It gave me the confidence to try a new design! Yay!
