Project 366- July 30, 2008



Our final day of Bible study:( It was a small crowd, only 5 of us, but it was good. I'll miss meeting with those ladies on a weekly basis.

I ate at the new Runza in town today for the first time... It wasn't bad, but my stomach is a little unsure about the grease. Not that there was excess grease for fast food, I just haven't had fast food in such a long time.

Today Brenna entered her photography and Create Your Corner items. The results: one purple, 3 blues and one red. All in all she was pleased and learned something. That is the point, isn't it?! Now onto the cooking classes!

So, there is always something new with Seth and today was no different. He has been working for a tree removal service for several weeks now and really enjoying it. This morning he was working in a tree with a chain saw and cut his leg. I'm so glad my great aunt lives there so she can be with him. He had to have some surgery to re-connect a tendon, but is doing well. Not such good timing though with Fair and all:S

Sadness. I got my car back today...it only cost me all my savings. I am trying to save and be wise with my money so I can stay out of debt and then this happens. I needed a new timing belt, new water pump, new radiator hose... Back to the very beginning, a very good place to start.

    hey--sorry to hear about Seth and Your Car! Car issues are always not cool! I feel like every time I take mine in, I come back having to pay huge bills too :( Such is life. I hope you have good day, however. I'm praying for you!

    But remember, had you not had the savings in the first place, you would now be deeper in debt by that amount! Praise God for savings!!!

    Hmm, I had the same not-so-happy stomach experience with Runza, too. It's like we're so healthy we can't handle a little fast food. I don't think that is a bad thing, though!

Finish It Up Friday...Scrappy Triangle Shag Rug

UPDATE: Several people have asked about this rug. One specifically asked about how I folded my prairie points. So here are some step by step pictures.  I started with a 4 inch square. Fold that square in half diagonally.  Fold the point up away from the fold at the center towards the other side.  Fold the other side up across in the same way. A friend sent me a picture on facebook of a rug. It was a cute rug she saw at a newborn photography class. I took on the challenge of recreating that rug. I was a bit surprised to not find anything like it online.  I did finally find a variation of prairie points to use when folding and ironing.  I did a lot of folding and ironing.  I took 4 inch squares folded them in half and then folded the sides overlapping to create more of an acute angle to the triangle. Finish It Up Friday...Pink Triangle Shag Rug!

I made this scrappy rug back in 2016 for a childhood friend who does fabulous photography! Check our her work: www.katrinaleephotography.com  or on Facebook . She was able to put it to use for this precious baby photo shoot!  After she posted it another friend of mine saw it and requested a pink, cream and gray rug for her coming granddaughter!  Thanks so much for the shoutout Katrina! It was already a week or so into January and she wanted it by February 1st...so I got crackin'!  You can see how I made the first one HERE .  It is fun to see these last photos in a row and watch it grow.  I'm not a big pink fan, but I did end up having plenty of pinks for this rug.  Not having to go buy fabric sped up the process.  I want one for myself now! Hello, Jellyfish Wedding Quilt

My babiest brother got married in March! So crazy! So happy for them! They were planning to get married this coming August but decided to just have a small courthouse wedding earlier. I thought I had time to get a wedding quilt made but not with the change. I asked for their preferences and got started. Request: he likes green, she likes pink and wanted some jellyfish. Here are the fabrics I went with, plus white and teal rocks. I found another quilt I liked on SuzyQuilts website. It was a bit more of a modern pattern, which I thought fit my sister in law a bit better. Ready, set, go! These pictures are a little out of order, oops!   I tried just figuring the pattern out myself so I wasn't sure how my measurements would come out. It came out really long! I ended up trimming part of the top and bottom as well as adding a vertical border. Simple blocks! I am feeling so much better about the tension of my quilt parts on the rollers. It gave me the confidence to try a new design! Yay!
