Project 366- August 9, 2008


"Saturday in the park, I think it was the 4th of July..."

This song was in my head all morning. Every time someone says "Saturday" it just seems to creep in. I finally gave in and found it on youtube to listen to while getting ready for the wedding.

Yesterday's Project 366 picture featured Conway John and so today it is Conway Kitty. Kitty is a much more mellow young thing, not nearly as big as John either.
John has a lot of spunk. Just look at him go.

Before I headed off for wedding time we rearranged beds. Aunt Beth and Uncle Dan gave us a mattress set and so we did some shifting.

Brenna was so excited to get a bigger bed. She took to it like a fish to water;)

I made it on time to Trina and Jim's wedding. The songs went off smoothly. I know where I messed up, but they were cover-up-able. Hehe, not a word;) It was fun singing with Mr. Bristol again. I didn't stay for the reception. Not enough security in knowing lots of people to talk to there and I don't drink. That part of the reception began the minute they came out of the church...literally. So sad.

I came home instead to a yummy meal from the garden (minus the beef for the burgers). We had corn on the cob and tomatoes. I planted both and I'm so happy it was a successful crop!!

UPDATE: Several people have asked about this rug. One specifically asked about how I folded my prairie points. So here are some step by step pictures.  I started with a 4 inch square. Fold that square in half diagonally.  Fold the point up away from the fold at the center towards the other side.  Fold the other side up across in the same way. A friend sent me a picture on facebook of a rug. It was a cute rug she saw at a newborn photography class. I took on the challenge of recreating that rug. I was a bit surprised to not find anything like it online.  I did finally find a variation of prairie points to use when folding and ironing.  I did a lot of folding and ironing.  I took 4 inch squares folded them in half and then folded the sides overlapping to create more of an acute angle to the triangle. Finish It Up Friday...Pink Triangle Shag Rug!

I made this scrappy rug back in 2016 for a childhood friend who does fabulous photography! Check our her work: www.katrinaleephotography.com  or on Facebook . She was able to put it to use for this precious baby photo shoot!  After she posted it another friend of mine saw it and requested a pink, cream and gray rug for her coming granddaughter!  Thanks so much for the shoutout Katrina! It was already a week or so into January and she wanted it by February 1st...so I got crackin'!  You can see how I made the first one HERE .  It is fun to see these last photos in a row and watch it grow.  I'm not a big pink fan, but I did end up having plenty of pinks for this rug.  Not having to go buy fabric sped up the process.  I want one for myself now! Hello, Jellyfish Wedding Quilt

My babiest brother got married in March! So crazy! So happy for them! They were planning to get married this coming August but decided to just have a small courthouse wedding earlier. I thought I had time to get a wedding quilt made but not with the change. I asked for their preferences and got started. Request: he likes green, she likes pink and wanted some jellyfish. Here are the fabrics I went with, plus white and teal rocks. I found another quilt I liked on SuzyQuilts website. It was a bit more of a modern pattern, which I thought fit my sister in law a bit better. Ready, set, go! These pictures are a little out of order, oops!   I tried just figuring the pattern out myself so I wasn't sure how my measurements would come out. It came out really long! I ended up trimming part of the top and bottom as well as adding a vertical border. Simple blocks! I am feeling so much better about the tension of my quilt parts on the rollers. It gave me the confidence to try a new design! Yay!
