Project 366- September 11, 2008

Project 366 picture: As I was trying to take this picture...I almost died!
Okay, that is being a bit melodramatic. I was startled quite severely though. You see I felt something on my foot and thinking it was our little dog Molly I looked down only to see that it was NOT Molly. It was a SNAKE!!! I know that garter snakes aren't dangerous, but really...MY FOOT!
I'm feeling much better today. I slept in and then woke up ravenous, as one does after a day of losing all food which one intakes. I tried to take it easy and not overdo it. I did have to take a nap after lunch.
Dad was planning on sanding "my" room at the school today. The glue is awful, it gummed up the sander in less than three sweeps up and back. Arg. So it was back to the scraping plan, but this time with stripper guns. Hehe, no not that kind of stripper:) The heated guns work pretty well. Once all the glue is off, then dad can sand:S

Didn't dad get it all organized well. It looks quite shnazzy in the "antique" room, as the kids call it.
Tonight I went to town and spent some quality time with KO-J. It was loverly. Kicking myself, I forgot to take a picture. We'll get to hang out one last time before she goes across the pond, then I must get a picture.

Finish It Up Friday...Scrappy Triangle Shag Rug

UPDATE: Several people have asked about this rug. One specifically asked about how I folded my prairie points. So here are some step by step pictures.  I started with a 4 inch square. Fold that square in half diagonally.  Fold the point up away from the fold at the center towards the other side.  Fold the other side up across in the same way. A friend sent me a picture on facebook of a rug. It was a cute rug she saw at a newborn photography class. I took on the challenge of recreating that rug. I was a bit surprised to not find anything like it online.  I did finally find a variation of prairie points to use when folding and ironing.  I did a lot of folding and ironing.  I took 4 inch squares folded them in half and then folded the sides overlapping to create more of an acute angle to the triangle. Finish It Up Friday...Pink Triangle Shag Rug!

I made this scrappy rug back in 2016 for a childhood friend who does fabulous photography! Check our her work: www.katrinaleephotography.com  or on Facebook . She was able to put it to use for this precious baby photo shoot!  After she posted it another friend of mine saw it and requested a pink, cream and gray rug for her coming granddaughter!  Thanks so much for the shoutout Katrina! It was already a week or so into January and she wanted it by February 1st...so I got crackin'!  You can see how I made the first one HERE .  It is fun to see these last photos in a row and watch it grow.  I'm not a big pink fan, but I did end up having plenty of pinks for this rug.  Not having to go buy fabric sped up the process.  I want one for myself now! I'm Still Here!! Kim's Quilt

I have been missing in action here on the blog but for good reason! My husband and I sold our house at the end of June and moved to our unfinished basement in the middle of nowhere! We lived for 3 months among all our stuff(which is alot) as we pushed forward on building the house above us.  We are now upstairs, hurray! Although far from finished it feels so good!! Anywho, I still had a few quilting projects with deadlines to complete. Here is one! I kept out the few necessary supplies, my modern little New Home Janome, and made it work. First it was on/beside the bed in our little sleeping corner.  She picked a pattern from a few I suggested but in a forest green colorway. I loved the pattern as it was simple, straightforward halfsquare triangle blocks. They were fairly large, 9.5 inches and it went together so quickly! A great quilt for a less than optimal work space.
