Project 366- September 16, 2008

Project 366 picture: TWINS!! Mom was rummaging through clothes to find the winter stuff. She found these red matching sweaters and the kids were off. Brenna's was a bit small, but she made do.

They both put on their khakis and decided to do everything alike. Notice the pictures they drew?:) As you can guess, this idea of doing the exact same thing did not last all day. It was super cute while it lasted though.
Is not this apron adorable?!! It is a child's apron and I love it. The pattern called for lace around the edge, but I just made pleats instead with the contrast fabric. I love this one!
Volcano!!! The kids decided to do an impromptu science experiment this afternoon. Hehe, they have done this one several times before, but it never ceases to enthrall and amaze them.
I was supposed to have a work meeting this afternoon, but...
Marci went to the hospital to have the BABY!!! Yay!!
Tonight we ran down to the school to figure out how many leaks we truly have. It was already figured out that there are broken pipes in the walls of the boys bathroom. I heard rushing water from upstairs while dad was working on it only to discover water spraying out of a small hole in the girls bathroom:(
I used rags and a dustpan to clean up the 2 inches of water covering the floor. It was all very discouraging for all of us. Pretty much the plumbing needs completely redone. Anyone have $50, 000 for me so I can fix up the school? I was really hoping to move into it and at least have a bit of my own place. Disappointing...we cried.

    Hey, I'm wondering if we need something "special" to display all this handy dandy stichery on for Junk Jaunt. Like maybe some peg board with hooks? Or maybe you have a better idea? Just wondering if it would be better if it weren't sitting on tables next to the other "junk?" And I use that term junk in a loving way you know!

Finish It Up Friday...Scrappy Triangle Shag Rug

UPDATE: Several people have asked about this rug. One specifically asked about how I folded my prairie points. So here are some step by step pictures.  I started with a 4 inch square. Fold that square in half diagonally.  Fold the point up away from the fold at the center towards the other side.  Fold the other side up across in the same way. A friend sent me a picture on facebook of a rug. It was a cute rug she saw at a newborn photography class. I took on the challenge of recreating that rug. I was a bit surprised to not find anything like it online.  I did finally find a variation of prairie points to use when folding and ironing.  I did a lot of folding and ironing.  I took 4 inch squares folded them in half and then folded the sides overlapping to create more of an acute angle to the triangle. Finish It Up Friday...Pink Triangle Shag Rug!

I made this scrappy rug back in 2016 for a childhood friend who does fabulous photography! Check our her work: www.katrinaleephotography.com  or on Facebook . She was able to put it to use for this precious baby photo shoot!  After she posted it another friend of mine saw it and requested a pink, cream and gray rug for her coming granddaughter!  Thanks so much for the shoutout Katrina! It was already a week or so into January and she wanted it by February 1st...so I got crackin'!  You can see how I made the first one HERE .  It is fun to see these last photos in a row and watch it grow.  I'm not a big pink fan, but I did end up having plenty of pinks for this rug.  Not having to go buy fabric sped up the process.  I want one for myself now! I'm Still Here!! Kim's Quilt

I have been missing in action here on the blog but for good reason! My husband and I sold our house at the end of June and moved to our unfinished basement in the middle of nowhere! We lived for 3 months among all our stuff(which is alot) as we pushed forward on building the house above us.  We are now upstairs, hurray! Although far from finished it feels so good!! Anywho, I still had a few quilting projects with deadlines to complete. Here is one! I kept out the few necessary supplies, my modern little New Home Janome, and made it work. First it was on/beside the bed in our little sleeping corner.  She picked a pattern from a few I suggested but in a forest green colorway. I loved the pattern as it was simple, straightforward halfsquare triangle blocks. They were fairly large, 9.5 inches and it went together so quickly! A great quilt for a less than optimal work space.
