A Pleasant Surprise.

Our next stop was outside of Trenton near Massacre Canyon. The story of the fight between two Indian tribes is quite interesting. You should go there sometime:)
The marker was located at this cute little "rest area" and had a fabulous bunch of lilac bushes and a special treat.
Once again, aren't the lilacs lovely? And the smell is so delicious!!
Back to the treat...it was this massively huge monument set up for the battle here in Massacre Canyon. The monument was even moved one mile when the highway was moved. On the top of the monument was a carved Indian face, a different one on the two sides to represent the two tribes.
Heading back to the car, we were intercepted by a cute little old couple. They run a museum/store here during the summer months. They were preparing for opening Memorial weekend and invited us in:)
Apparently some mammoth like bones were dug up near here also...another claim to fame!

They were very kind and even gave the kids some arrowheads to take along (not authentic mind you). What fun! And don't worry...we're not done yet!
