Made A New Dress

We went out of town a few weeks ago.  I am not a big one for shopping, but I had a few coupons.  Without any specific idea, I went into Joanns with my coupon.  I came out with a lovely sateen fabric from Lisette.  I decided to use it for a new dress.
I headed to BurdaStyle.com and found this pattern.  I love it when a pattern works out without too much altering needed.

This is the dress before sleeves.  I did not quite have enough fabric to do both of the fluttery sleeve layers.
The fabric was fairly slippery and frayed quite easily.  I made sure to do what would have made my 4-H sewing judges happy, finished my seams with a zig-zag stitch.  I also decided to try out my rolled-hem foot to do very a very small hem on the sleeves and the skirt edge.
SUCCESS!

I love it!  So cool, comfortable and cute (if I do say so myself).

P.S.  I became an aunt again yesterday!  Hurray for babies:)
