Finish It Up Friday...Polka Dot Mint Skirt

I am working on some large quilting projects right now.  That means I can sit at my machine for hours and still not have a finish.  Last night after a few hours I decided to find something I could quickly finish.
I started with this dress.
I am not even sure where I got this dress.  It is too small for me.  It is homemade and a lovely minty green color.  I know it is hard to tell with the terrible phone camera pictures.  It is a sheer fabric with little cream polka dots.
It is better seen here on the unlined sleeve.
So, yeah it didn't fit and never could fit me.  I decided to chop it in half and make myself a skirt.  Part of the inspiration came from the green cardigan I bought this week at the rummage sale.
I used the existing zipper and just added a waistband of cream fabric.  I then sewed some mint green lace along part of the waistband to tie it together a bit.  It is hard to take pictures of oneself with just a phone.  I tried.
It goes PERFECTLY with the cardigan and a string of pearls.   I was channeling an earlier era as I traipsed upstairs to show it off.
Here it is on my dress form.  You can't see them, but it has two pleats on each side.
Now I just need to find somewhere to wear it!
