Finish It Up Friday...Purple Herringbone Throw

I was asked recently to make a purple, throw-sized quilt.  I agreed and then looked at the purples in my stash...hahaha I don't have much purple.
I had to do some fabric shopping!  Thanks to Connecting Threads I filled up and didn't break the bank.
Here she is, in all her purple glory!
I've been wanting to try out Maureen Cracknell's Herringbone, Quilt-As-You-Go pattern for awhile and this looked like a great opportunity.
It was a super quick quilt to make! I made a little pillow to go along with it since there were some left over strips.
I'm not the biggest fan of purple, hence the lack of it in my stash, but it turned out beautifully!
I used my favorite of the purple fabrics for the backing.  Isn't that fun!?

She asked for a foot pocket on the back.  I'd never done one, but it was pretty simply addition.  I did it in flannel to add some cuddly factor.
This quilt made it to its new home today!  I know it will be enjoyed :)

    I like the way you mixed up the light and dark purples...monochromatic schemes can be tough, but the contrast make is work beautifully! I've never seen a foot pocket on a quilt before - it's genius!!

    That is a pretty quilt and now I'm wondering why I never thought of a foot pocket. I'm forever kicking around my lap quilts to get them back over my feet - such a great solution!

    Very pretty! This herringbone quilt as you go pattern is on my list of quilts to make. I'm glad to hear that you were able to make it quickly, I may be able to crank one out sometime soon!

      Haha, I totally had to look! It has been awhile! I folded a piece of fabric the width of the quilt by twice the depth I wanted the pocket. Folded it down and then layered it in when I attached the binding.

UPDATE: Several people have asked about this rug. One specifically asked about how I folded my prairie points. So here are some step by step pictures.  I started with a 4 inch square. Fold that square in half diagonally.  Fold the point up away from the fold at the center towards the other side.  Fold the other side up across in the same way. A friend sent me a picture on facebook of a rug. It was a cute rug she saw at a newborn photography class. I took on the challenge of recreating that rug. I was a bit surprised to not find anything like it online.  I did finally find a variation of prairie points to use when folding and ironing.  I did a lot of folding and ironing.  I took 4 inch squares folded them in half and then folded the sides overlapping to create more of an acute angle to the triangle. Finish It Up Friday...Pink Triangle Shag Rug!

I made this scrappy rug back in 2016 for a childhood friend who does fabulous photography! Check our her work: www.katrinaleephotography.com  or on Facebook . She was able to put it to use for this precious baby photo shoot!  After she posted it another friend of mine saw it and requested a pink, cream and gray rug for her coming granddaughter!  Thanks so much for the shoutout Katrina! It was already a week or so into January and she wanted it by February 1st...so I got crackin'!  You can see how I made the first one HERE .  It is fun to see these last photos in a row and watch it grow.  I'm not a big pink fan, but I did end up having plenty of pinks for this rug.  Not having to go buy fabric sped up the process.  I want one for myself now! Hello, Jellyfish Wedding Quilt

My babiest brother got married in March! So crazy! So happy for them! They were planning to get married this coming August but decided to just have a small courthouse wedding earlier. I thought I had time to get a wedding quilt made but not with the change. I asked for their preferences and got started. Request: he likes green, she likes pink and wanted some jellyfish. Here are the fabrics I went with, plus white and teal rocks. I found another quilt I liked on SuzyQuilts website. It was a bit more of a modern pattern, which I thought fit my sister in law a bit better. Ready, set, go! These pictures are a little out of order, oops!   I tried just figuring the pattern out myself so I wasn't sure how my measurements would come out. It came out really long! I ended up trimming part of the top and bottom as well as adding a vertical border. Simple blocks! I am feeling so much better about the tension of my quilt parts on the rollers. It gave me the confidence to try a new design! Yay!
