Sister, Sister Quilts!
When I heard a dear friend of mine was having a baby I knew I wanted to make her a quilt. They found out it would be a girl and their nine year old was super excited to be getting a baby sister. I decided coordinating quilts would be the thing to do.
Once upon a time I bought a fat quarter set of the fabric line Indigo Garden from Anka's Treasures. I had no project in mind, it was just an impulse buy due its beauty! I purchased the Mod Blossoms pattern also from Anka's Treasures and jumped in!
I didn't quite have enough to make the normal pattern in both quilts so I made enough blocks and found a solid blue to use as sashing.
The baby size top went together very quickly! Such fun, bright colors in these fabrics!
I made the bigger one in a twin size. My helper was good for arranging all the blocks!
I was a good girl and squared up my blocks. I get in such a hurry sometimes and want to skip this step.
My big helper got ahold of my phone camera while I was loading them onto Miss Vivian the quilter. Naptime on my back was how we survived for a week or so when we all got the flu in February. A good time to get some quilting done.
I tried loading both on at the same time but didn't really think it through. Hard to do with different sizes.
I finished them on Monday and then we shipped them off Tuesday. Hurray, for finishes!!
Both are sporting loopty-loop quilting.
Both are sporting fuzzy backing!
They arrived today and it sounds like they were a big hit! I loved putting them together!!

Wow! Impressive! I love both of your quilts. Heather Peterson is my all time favorite designer and I have been following her for decades. But my over the moon comment is: how amazing you are able to do all that while taking care of 2 adorable munchkins, as we call them at my house.
ReplyDeleteThank you! She has beautiful quilts and fabrics! I am a fan as well.
DeleteIt is tricky but I manage to get my quilting in here and there. I have slowed way down on what I finish!!
Fabulous finishes and lovely bright quilts that will be loved.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteWhat a great idea making two quilts. They are awesome. Thanks for linking up with Thank Goodness It's Finished Friday.
