Project 366- July 29, 2008



I was a 4-H project leader in our household today. Brenna is taking photography and I got deemed in charge of accomplishing said project. One of her chosen categories was shadow fun. Guess what...the sun was behind clouds every time we went outside to take pictures:S I didn't need any added frustrations due to non-controlled variables. Hehe, see I did listen in science class:) Needless to say, we did most of our shadows down in the dark basement and added the light needed. That was the least of this projects worries. Brenna had to fill out an information sheet for each photo category. She had three and it took her at least 2 hours to fill them out. She was wailing and moping and whining about filling those suckers out. It was RIDICULOUS!! We were finally running out of time and I set a timer for 10 minutes...she finished one and a half of the information sheets in 10 minutes!:

We had another work meeting and it just hit me wrong. That and about anything that Satan could push on me to make me depressed. I was miserable most of the afternoon. Arg, such a battle sometimes. The Lord is my strength.

I haven't gone to dog practice in many months so I decided to go along tonight. It was forever long as always, but I kept reading my book for most of it. I got in the car to run to the grocery store before closing time to find Quinn hiding in the back. He got reprimanded for something by a non-family member and he was hiding:)

    Your 4-H stories always bring back such memories. Do you remember having to do sheets for the baking projects that involved figuring out how many calories were in a serving of a baked good you had made? You had to add all the calories for each ingredient and then divide it out for a serving. Nightmare!

UPDATE: Several people have asked about this rug. One specifically asked about how I folded my prairie points. So here are some step by step pictures.  I started with a 4 inch square. Fold that square in half diagonally.  Fold the point up away from the fold at the center towards the other side.  Fold the other side up across in the same way. A friend sent me a picture on facebook of a rug. It was a cute rug she saw at a newborn photography class. I took on the challenge of recreating that rug. I was a bit surprised to not find anything like it online.  I did finally find a variation of prairie points to use when folding and ironing.  I did a lot of folding and ironing.  I took 4 inch squares folded them in half and then folded the sides overlapping to create more of an acute angle to the triangle. Finish It Up Friday...Pink Triangle Shag Rug!

I made this scrappy rug back in 2016 for a childhood friend who does fabulous photography! Check our her work: www.katrinaleephotography.com  or on Facebook . She was able to put it to use for this precious baby photo shoot!  After she posted it another friend of mine saw it and requested a pink, cream and gray rug for her coming granddaughter!  Thanks so much for the shoutout Katrina! It was already a week or so into January and she wanted it by February 1st...so I got crackin'!  You can see how I made the first one HERE .  It is fun to see these last photos in a row and watch it grow.  I'm not a big pink fan, but I did end up having plenty of pinks for this rug.  Not having to go buy fabric sped up the process.  I want one for myself now! Hello, Jellyfish Wedding Quilt

My babiest brother got married in March! So crazy! So happy for them! They were planning to get married this coming August but decided to just have a small courthouse wedding earlier. I thought I had time to get a wedding quilt made but not with the change. I asked for their preferences and got started. Request: he likes green, she likes pink and wanted some jellyfish. Here are the fabrics I went with, plus white and teal rocks. I found another quilt I liked on SuzyQuilts website. It was a bit more of a modern pattern, which I thought fit my sister in law a bit better. Ready, set, go! These pictures are a little out of order, oops!   I tried just figuring the pattern out myself so I wasn't sure how my measurements would come out. It came out really long! I ended up trimming part of the top and bottom as well as adding a vertical border. Simple blocks! I am feeling so much better about the tension of my quilt parts on the rollers. It gave me the confidence to try a new design! Yay!
