Project 366- September 2, 2008

We started today off right...with homemade pancakes!! Yummy!
Quinn got a bear and Brenna got a "turtle". I say "turtle" because it got a bit mishapen:S It was still yummy.

This week is a bit like a vacation for me. Since I didn't have to work yesterday, I have 5 days in a row off! It has been fabulous and the timing is great! I've been working a lot on my quilting/fabric projects. Have I mentioned that I'm going to try and sell things at the Junk Jaunt? I may create an Etsy store after that so I can continue creating.
The weather is changing in Nebraska and fall is filtering in. I love the changing of seasons and summer to fall is no exception. The cool, crispness of the air is exhilarating to me. Today I actually needed a jacket.
I did have a work meeting this afternoon. It wasn't long. I took my sewing machine in to Kathy. It is doing weird things like zigzag stitching when it is set on straight:S Arg. Check out this house. Can you see that it is OFF THE GROUND??? A classmate of mine's parents own this house. I've always hoped they would finish fixing it up. I think that it may happen;)
The apples are ready. I cut up apples and mom turned it into sauce. Yummy! These are all from our very own trees:)

This afternoon the kids and I went on a walk. We pretended we were being chased by bad guys and we were trying to locate the magic tree that would free the good king and his army.
It was such a great day for a walk. Stella came too!
Project 366 picture: The sunflowers are out in all their glory right now. They make such good subjects. I climbed a tree:) Ahhh, help I'm stuck!!

    Oh the days of pancakes made into the shapes of whatever your mom was adventurous enough to try. One of those lovely sweet memories of growing up.

Finish It Up Friday...Scrappy Triangle Shag Rug

UPDATE: Several people have asked about this rug. One specifically asked about how I folded my prairie points. So here are some step by step pictures.  I started with a 4 inch square. Fold that square in half diagonally.  Fold the point up away from the fold at the center towards the other side.  Fold the other side up across in the same way. A friend sent me a picture on facebook of a rug. It was a cute rug she saw at a newborn photography class. I took on the challenge of recreating that rug. I was a bit surprised to not find anything like it online.  I did finally find a variation of prairie points to use when folding and ironing.  I did a lot of folding and ironing.  I took 4 inch squares folded them in half and then folded the sides overlapping to create more of an acute angle to the triangle. Finish It Up Friday...Pink Triangle Shag Rug!

I made this scrappy rug back in 2016 for a childhood friend who does fabulous photography! Check our her work: www.katrinaleephotography.com  or on Facebook . She was able to put it to use for this precious baby photo shoot!  After she posted it another friend of mine saw it and requested a pink, cream and gray rug for her coming granddaughter!  Thanks so much for the shoutout Katrina! It was already a week or so into January and she wanted it by February 1st...so I got crackin'!  You can see how I made the first one HERE .  It is fun to see these last photos in a row and watch it grow.  I'm not a big pink fan, but I did end up having plenty of pinks for this rug.  Not having to go buy fabric sped up the process.  I want one for myself now! Hello, Jellyfish Wedding Quilt

My babiest brother got married in March! So crazy! So happy for them! They were planning to get married this coming August but decided to just have a small courthouse wedding earlier. I thought I had time to get a wedding quilt made but not with the change. I asked for their preferences and got started. Request: he likes green, she likes pink and wanted some jellyfish. Here are the fabrics I went with, plus white and teal rocks. I found another quilt I liked on SuzyQuilts website. It was a bit more of a modern pattern, which I thought fit my sister in law a bit better. Ready, set, go! These pictures are a little out of order, oops!   I tried just figuring the pattern out myself so I wasn't sure how my measurements would come out. It came out really long! I ended up trimming part of the top and bottom as well as adding a vertical border. Simple blocks! I am feeling so much better about the tension of my quilt parts on the rollers. It gave me the confidence to try a new design! Yay!
