Friends, Coffee and a Side of Encouragement

Hurray for holidays which bring home friends from far away!!!

It was been lovely to have Tori here for the past week. We got to enjoy one another's company at a Christmas party we hosted first. It was quite a fun time, with exciting word games to boot.
Then I got to enjoy her company a second time when we had lunch with the lovely Miss Hajdas. I so much appreciate getting together and not having to "work" at conversation. We have known each other for so long that I don't feel like I need to make this HUGE impression on her.

Today we got together, just the two of us. I was so sad that it turned out to be a cold and blustery day because it caused me to doubt my desire to come to town for this meeting. Silly me, it was so worth the time to wash my hair and zip on in by way of the Contour;)
We met at Hazel's for coffee. I had yet to try out the newest coffee establishment in town, what an opportunity!
It was SUCH an encouraging time together. I really wanted to hear about her time at orientation with CrossWorld and I'm so glad I made an effort to do so. She has learned so much and it has opened my eyes to ways I need to grow as well.
May the Lord bless you and keep you in 2009! I can't believe it is already here!!

Finish It Up Friday...Scrappy Triangle Shag Rug

UPDATE: Several people have asked about this rug. One specifically asked about how I folded my prairie points. So here are some step by step pictures.  I started with a 4 inch square. Fold that square in half diagonally.  Fold the point up away from the fold at the center towards the other side.  Fold the other side up across in the same way. A friend sent me a picture on facebook of a rug. It was a cute rug she saw at a newborn photography class. I took on the challenge of recreating that rug. I was a bit surprised to not find anything like it online.  I did finally find a variation of prairie points to use when folding and ironing.  I did a lot of folding and ironing.  I took 4 inch squares folded them in half and then folded the sides overlapping to create more of an acute angle to the triangle. Finish It Up Friday...Pink Triangle Shag Rug!

I made this scrappy rug back in 2016 for a childhood friend who does fabulous photography! Check our her work: www.katrinaleephotography.com  or on Facebook . She was able to put it to use for this precious baby photo shoot!  After she posted it another friend of mine saw it and requested a pink, cream and gray rug for her coming granddaughter!  Thanks so much for the shoutout Katrina! It was already a week or so into January and she wanted it by February 1st...so I got crackin'!  You can see how I made the first one HERE .  It is fun to see these last photos in a row and watch it grow.  I'm not a big pink fan, but I did end up having plenty of pinks for this rug.  Not having to go buy fabric sped up the process.  I want one for myself now! Hello, Jellyfish Wedding Quilt

My babiest brother got married in March! So crazy! So happy for them! They were planning to get married this coming August but decided to just have a small courthouse wedding earlier. I thought I had time to get a wedding quilt made but not with the change. I asked for their preferences and got started. Request: he likes green, she likes pink and wanted some jellyfish. Here are the fabrics I went with, plus white and teal rocks. I found another quilt I liked on SuzyQuilts website. It was a bit more of a modern pattern, which I thought fit my sister in law a bit better. Ready, set, go! These pictures are a little out of order, oops!   I tried just figuring the pattern out myself so I wasn't sure how my measurements would come out. It came out really long! I ended up trimming part of the top and bottom as well as adding a vertical border. Simple blocks! I am feeling so much better about the tension of my quilt parts on the rollers. It gave me the confidence to try a new design! Yay!
