Finished It Up Friday...Backpack It Up

I am always rotating my bags / purses around. I have been walking to work almost every day lately and having a crossbody bag has been a little cumbersome. I decided to make a new one in a backpack style so that the weight would be more evenly distributed as I walked!
 As I was scrolling through Facebook a while back there was a simple backpack pattern that popped up. It was just a kid size so I went ahead and enlarged it by a few inches to be more adult-sized.
 It really is a very simple pattern. This fabric is a little crazy with all that pink and red for me but I thought it would work great. I used some strapping someone gave me as the backpack straps.
 Hehehe, you'll notice that one side looks a little taller than the other. That's because I started putting the sides in one from the top and the other from the bottom. I decided it really didn't matter since the flap covers it.

 It's a perfect bag for the things I need to carry with me each and every day. I finally ordered some Buckle clasps to hold it shut.
 Living alone it's very difficult to take a picture of the backpack on your back! You'll just have to take my word for it a little bit, but it's wonderful! My little sister says it looks like the perfect size her art supplies so you guessed, it on to another backpack!

    I'm always impressed with bags and backpacks ... so many steps and instructions to follow. And it's always a great bonus when it works and is usable for your initial idea. Nice finish.

      Thanks! This pattern was actually pretty simple for a backpack. The directions were on the burdastyle blog, not the most detailed but good.

UPDATE: Several people have asked about this rug. One specifically asked about how I folded my prairie points. So here are some step by step pictures.  I started with a 4 inch square. Fold that square in half diagonally.  Fold the point up away from the fold at the center towards the other side.  Fold the other side up across in the same way. A friend sent me a picture on facebook of a rug. It was a cute rug she saw at a newborn photography class. I took on the challenge of recreating that rug. I was a bit surprised to not find anything like it online.  I did finally find a variation of prairie points to use when folding and ironing.  I did a lot of folding and ironing.  I took 4 inch squares folded them in half and then folded the sides overlapping to create more of an acute angle to the triangle. Finish It Up Friday...Pink Triangle Shag Rug!

I made this scrappy rug back in 2016 for a childhood friend who does fabulous photography! Check our her work: www.katrinaleephotography.com  or on Facebook . She was able to put it to use for this precious baby photo shoot!  After she posted it another friend of mine saw it and requested a pink, cream and gray rug for her coming granddaughter!  Thanks so much for the shoutout Katrina! It was already a week or so into January and she wanted it by February 1st...so I got crackin'!  You can see how I made the first one HERE .  It is fun to see these last photos in a row and watch it grow.  I'm not a big pink fan, but I did end up having plenty of pinks for this rug.  Not having to go buy fabric sped up the process.  I want one for myself now! Hello, Jellyfish Wedding Quilt

My babiest brother got married in March! So crazy! So happy for them! They were planning to get married this coming August but decided to just have a small courthouse wedding earlier. I thought I had time to get a wedding quilt made but not with the change. I asked for their preferences and got started. Request: he likes green, she likes pink and wanted some jellyfish. Here are the fabrics I went with, plus white and teal rocks. I found another quilt I liked on SuzyQuilts website. It was a bit more of a modern pattern, which I thought fit my sister in law a bit better. Ready, set, go! These pictures are a little out of order, oops!   I tried just figuring the pattern out myself so I wasn't sure how my measurements would come out. It came out really long! I ended up trimming part of the top and bottom as well as adding a vertical border. Simple blocks! I am feeling so much better about the tension of my quilt parts on the rollers. It gave me the confidence to try a new design! Yay!
