Project 366- October 4, 2008
Check out what one of the chicks left for us today! It is a bullet and it's the size of Brenna's head!!
Tonight was the 4-H trail ride and hot dog roast at the Popp's. We all had steeds to ride and off we went. Psst, the Popp's have a LOT of old cars and stuff everywhere! I just wanted to roam around and take picture...but Doc had other ideas.
We headed out for a leisurely ride along the river. Mine wasn't quite leisurely most of the time. I kept loping Doc in huge circles (praise the Lord we weren't on a contained path) and he tried hopping around a bit sometimes. I guess I created some entertainment for those behind me;) I'll be sore though, he jostled me a lot.
Doc got worn out after awhile and in between his exciting spurts I had a lovely time taking in the scenery and chatting with those nearby. Once back, we unsaddled and hopped into pickups to go back down to the river for a campfire. Quinn and I walked part of it so I could take some pictures...then we hitchhiked it:)

It was a lovely evening for this event. A couple of the kids brought their fishing gear along. I won't squeal on who actually caught a fish though:) He may have been over age;) The river did however bring with it some EXTRA large mosquitoes. It's a wonder we weren't all carried away.
The fire roared, we ate and we sat around the fire just enjoying one another. It was such an encouraging get-together. I hate being put in the center of attention and being focused on when I'm with a group. No fingers being pointed, no one I really don't know well trying to "fix" me. It was just lovely. The kids had a blast too. This was one moment where they all happened to be nearby and not carousing about in the dark playing hide and seek.
Great times!
