I Love My Pantry

The pantry has been done quite awhile. And...I love it! It is right off the kitchen. It is about 5 x 7.
It has a lovely cedar board floor! I had fun putting that in! The shelves and ceiling are also rough cut western red cedar that my husband logged and milled. It really fades with sunlight so this is a great spot for it to stay that lovely red. There isn't any sunlight getting in here!
We opted for some plywood for the walls. I painted a green access wall on the one where the freezer is sitting. It is so handy to have a freezer in there. We have a big chest freezer in the basement too. Now I can keep some stuff on hand upstairs!
The top of the freezer was a bit stained so I added some peel and stick wallpaper.
So the door was one of those miscommunication things. It is narrow, only 24 inches. As we were discussing it he said something about it only able to have half a door. I was a bit confused by that but I have always wanted Dutch doors so I made a plan. I made this cute little half door from the door we had found that was narrow enough.
I painted it up, added a cedar ledge on the top. ( Sorry it is two tone...i opted for a darker green on the island so i was in the middle of repainting the outside) Then I added the curtain to keep it cooler in there. Upon further conversation I discovered what my husband meant...He was just saying it is so narrow it uses only half a door, in width! Oops.
It is cute but still gets to warm in there since it is fairly close to our wood stove. A new full length door has been found and will be going in soon. Long storyfinalit makes me chuckle!
She is packed to the gills already! Not sure this will be my final organization plan but it is working great so far!
We will be adding another shelf down below, opposite of the freezer. Just need to get a board worked up.

I found a wooden tray at the dollar tray, glued a metal sign to it and covered it with wallpaper.  It makes a nice spot to put my monthly meal menus. The grocery bags I use for trash and general conveying of items. I hung them up with some hooks too!
The light in there is fancier than i would have done. We picked it out for the bedroom and then decided we wanted a ceiling fan. This is where it ended up!
So there you have it! My pantry, so thankful for it!!
