Anniversary Gift Finish

I have a finish, I have a finish!! Hurray!
Some friends of ours got married in 2020. They just had a small, private ceremony. I was pregnant, we had another wedding gift idea and I just missed out on making them a quilt.

Fast forward 5 years and they are still going strong! I found this charm pack somewhere anf thought of them. The subtle western theme and autumn colors seemed like a perfect choice.
I paired it with denim from my husband's old jeans, choosing to use the back as the right side of the fabric to give it a more even tone.
For my pattern I went simple, a disappearing 9-patch. Simple is the theme to get things finished these days. BUSY BOYS!
I didn't finish as early as I wanted, for their branding due to technical difficulties with my long arm machine.  Ugh, still not sure what is going on. I did loopty loops on most of the quilt before I decided it didn't look like the quality I strive for so...
I took it off and used another machine that we just got set up with a new cord and pedal to do simple diagonal lines throughout the design. Then I unpacked all of my loopty loops.
It turned out just fine! I used a buttery yellow on yellow for the backing. I also chose to fold it over for the binding.
I was able to give it to them this week! Happy 5th Anniversary, my friends!

Hurray for quilty finishes!

  1. Super cute quilt!!! I love the combo of charm squares and denim!!! Do you use Glide thread on your longarm? It does the trick on mine--just a thought...

    1. The denim was perfect! I will have to try that! My machine is a very old, industrial singer on rails. Still working out the kinks!
